In the playful popular fiction of Edo-period Japan—known as gesaku—we find that laughter, irony, and clever wordplay helped people bring lightness to everyday life.
These vessels carry that same spirit: pieces with a twist of wit, a turn of phrase in form. You might find yourself chuckling in recognition or smiling once the meaning lands.
I’ve shaped each work with the hope that it might brighten a corner of your day.

For the past decade, I have sought to walk alongside people’s lives through clothing. Continuing my practice of hand-colored silk, I now offer a collection of quiet, expressive forms. On display will be small fukusa cloths and floor coverings for seasonal displays, delicate papers to enrich the tea ceremony, and custom-crafted envelopes for special occasions. I look forward to sharing these creations with you.

山本さんの新作は「雷（いかづち）」。
今夏訪れた伊勢神宮では、清らかな五十鈴川の流れや、内宮の神々しさに感動したといいます。
しめ縄に付け、結界を示す紙垂を雷に見立て、錫粉で表現されました。
余技で制作された軸先も合わせてお楽しみください。

The highlight of Yamamoto’s latest work is Ikazuchi (Thunder). During a visit to Ise Shrine this summer, he was deeply moved by the sacred atmosphere and the clear waters of the Isuzu River. Inspired by the zigzag paper streamers on the shrine’s sacred rope—symbols of a purified realm—he reimagined them as thunder, expressed through the use of tin powder. Additional works, including finials crafted as a side project, will also be on display.
