菊池克陶展 − 千手悲願

観音経を読むようになったあと、三十三間堂の千手観音千一体を拝観し、
その世界感が立体的に表現されていることに深く感動しました。
以来、千手観音の手を千手つくることをこころに決め、
「千手悲願」と銘打ってつくり続けています。
今回のために、千手観音が手にするさまざまな持物から発想を得た作品もつくりました。
私の住む国東半島には観音信仰が脈々と存在していますが、
それが感じられるような作品も展示する予定です。
どうかご自身の仏性に照らし合わせ、こころに響くものを見つけていただけたらうれしく思います。

このたび、白では菊池克陶展 − 千手悲願を開催します。東京では初披露となる菩薩手をはじめ、そこからインスパイアされた作品も展覧いたします。
Katsu Kikuchi Ceramics Exhibition “Thousand-Hand Compassionate Vow”
June 24th (Saturday) — July 2nd (Sunday), 2023
After learning to chant the Kannon Sutra, I made a pilgrimage to Sanjusangendō to see the Thousand-Hand Kannon with its one thousand statues. Deeply moved by the three-dimensional expression of the bodhisattva’s world, I set out to create one thousand arms myself like those of the Thousand-Hand Kannon under the title of “Senju Higan” (“Thousand-Hand Compassionate Vow”).
For this occasion, I have also created artworks inspired by the various implements held by the Thousand-Hand Kannon. The Kunisaki Peninsula where I reside has a longstanding presence of Kannon faith, and I plan to exhibit artworks that evoke it. I would be delighted if you could find something that resonates with your own Buddha nature and touches your heart.

We are pleased to announce the Katsu Kikuchi Ceramics Exhibition, “Thousand-Hand Compassionate Vow” at Haku. This exhibition will feature the first-ever unveiling of Kikuchi’s bodhisattva hands in Tokyo, as well as artworks inspired by them. Please join us and enjoy the exhibition.
